Camp History

"...You Are Still Holy..."

The group of 3rd and 4th graders arrived in the
usual fashion. A fun night of singing, penguins in the
morning, and three delicious meals was all they would get.
The path of the storm was being followed carefully by the
staff. Emergency procedures had been put in place, but
nothing could truly prepare us for what was to come.

The door slammed shut after the last camper was safely
inside--the next two minutes felt like an eternity.
That's all the time the F3 tornado needed to tear through
camp, in some cases completely removing cabins from their
    foundations.

Destruction...yet none of the 65 people at camp that day
were injured. We are forever grateful to God for protecting
us that night. To the Wistrom's that took us--all of us--
into their home down the street until the busses arrived.
To Dwayne Jackson for transporting us home in the middle
of the night. To the parents that celebrated our safe
arrival. And to the kids who were all so brave.

    Praise God!!
