Welcome to the American Life and Culture Class

Mission Statement
In an effort to be locally engaged and globally connected, we offer a ministry of hospitality to international women who live in the Twin Cities. In the name of Jesus Christ, we passionately and lovingly help women who have moved to Minnesota adjust to their surroundings. We offer friendship and share God's love to them in all we do.

Our objective is to help international women in their cultural and social adjustment. We do this by:

  • teaching about American life and culture through class activities such as cooking, arts and crafts;
  • supporting English language learning through conversing, reading short stories, and discussing current events in class;
  • creating a welcoming environment where international women feel comfortable and encouraged to share aspects of their own cultures and traditions;
  • teaching about health and safety issues including driving, fire and crime prevention, personal and child safety, winter traveling, etc.;
  • suggesting family-friendly places to visit in the metro area, in Minnesota, and out of the state; and
  • creating a forum where international women can meet other women who are also new to the area.

We share God's love by building friendships with international women. We feel free to share our faith stories openly with them. To anyone interested, we offer a Bible study after class.

Note: Childcare during class is available for a small fee.
