Jellico, Tennessee

Why not serve for a week this summer? It is hard to say which is more exciting;
The way your life changes as a result of serving for Christ, or the satisfaction of helping those in need.

Date: Arrive in Jellico at 3:00 PM Sunday, July 6th; our trip will end with breakfast and clean-up on Saturday, July 12th.
Location: Jellico, Tennessee

Jellico rests on the Cumberland Plateau, which is a portion of the Appalachian Mountain Range. The town is located just off 1-75 between Knoxville, TN and Lexington, Kentucky. Our ministry partner is Mr. Steve Meeks who founded GoodSoil Ministry about ten years ago.

Our Construction Project: Steve is excited to have World Servants teams partner with Good Soil Ministry by helping local families with much needed home repairs. We also hope to have a small community project that will reach out to more community members.

Outreach: The variety of outreach opportunities in this community is great. There will be opportunities for sports ministry, home visits, music ministry, and much more. Depending on the skills and interest of our group members, we can do more than one of these within our week there. A highlight of our week is hosting a community Bar-B-Q in the park on Thursday night.

Housing: We will be staying at Cumberland College, in one of the dorms. Housing will include rooms that are connected by a suite. We will enjoy breakfast and dinner at the college cafeteria, (Kid friendly meals.) Lunches will be packed for us to take to the work sites daily. The college has a pool and game room for your family to enjoy during free time.

Day Off: Our day off will be spent at Cumberland Falls, a beautiful state park where we can enjoy a hike, picnic and swim if we want. The park is about 45 minutes from the college where we will be staying.

Cost: Mission Trip (Training, Housing, Food, Local Staffing and Construction materials)
$495 per person; Children 3 to 8, half-price: $250.00 (Transportation to Tennessee not included)

Long Term Vision: To come along side local ministries and help meet the heart felt needs of the people. Build relationships so that we might share the story of how God has impacted our lives. Over and over we have heard stories of how World Servants teams have opened the hearts of people so that they could hear the word of God.
